Boyfriend

I don’t have many curves. The ones I do have, I’ve spent so many stressful years trying to find ways to unleash, by means of tighter-than-is-healthy belts and size-down trousers etc, that the idea of a baggy pair of jeans, is just mental. High-waist and skin-tight, is my friend. Baggy…. can piss off. (‘scuse my French).
.
My biggest fear in life (exaggeration) is that I’ll buy a pair of jeans and they’ll get all loose and unflattering and I’ll need to buy some more. However…
.
Boyfriend jeans. I know, I’m late to the party. But to be honest, I’ve been trying to like them for months. So many times have I gone into Urban and tried on the BDBG pair, that seem to have lived on almost all of my wishlists, and every time thought EUGH! But then something magical happened.
.
I don’t know if it’s because my body shape changed, or my eye sight got worse and I just need glasses (really quite possible), but I went in the other day and tried on the standard BDBG pair, and they looked…not eugh! And I started dancing round to the music and swishing my hair and trying on other cool things like more crop tops (damn you winter) and awesomely oversized check shirts, and I started feeling pretty awesome (dancing in the changing room always induces a certain feeling of awesomeness… no?)
.
So, I went home (can’t afford the BDBG pair) and found these!!

I love stomping around in the thick stiff denim. My mum thinks they’re “alternative” and pretty “out there”. Her exact words when I opened the package were “whaat…. whaatt??”. And now I feel so brave wearing slightly un-conventional denim! I think the rest of my quaint little home town is almost as unnerved as my mother.

But you know what, they’re NOT shapeless! They’re tight in all the right places, and baggy where they don’t need to be tight = comfy! Like skinny round the waist (I OWN A WAIST!) and baggy at the hips (I also own hips). I thought it would be impossible to wear them with anything but crop tops and heels, but no! You can mix it up and wear trainers and baggy jumpers. All things I thoroughly intend to do soon enough. I have a feeling they may become my Winter wardrobe staple.

Sorry these photos are a bit dodgy, I’m working on getting a new camera. Until then, you may just have to put up with it!

Hope you’re all having a good week!

  3. I have the opposite problem – I’ve worn jeans approx 5 times in the last 15 years because even though there are so many gorgeous styles, I can never find a pair the is comfortable or fit properly without being too too tight or way too loose in places and alterations aren’t easy on that fabric.I made my own once – perfect wide leg with draw string, casual chic but then a feathery friend of mine decided to use them s bedding and they accumulated holes and I don’t do the holey jeans look. If you’re worried about curves there are items that are sewn into shape such as galaxy and bodycon dresses and peplum is wonderful for adding to hips, such items look good on women from slender to plus size.

In the pics above you look super stylish 🙂
